Prioritizing Mental Health in HIV Care and Treatment for Youth Living with HIV in Low Resource Settings

Proscovia Nabunya is an Assistant Professor at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. She co-directs the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD) at the Brown School. Dr. Nabunya’s research focuses on global mental health, HIV stigma, and family and community-based support systems as protective factors for the wellbeing of children and families in low resource settings. She has over 18 years research experience conducting research among children, youth and families impacted by HIV and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, including the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Dr. Nabunya’s current research focus on developing a mobile health intervention to improve mental health outcomes of youth with comorbidity HIV and depression.
