Dr. Leopoldo J. Cabassa is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Center for Mental Health Services Research at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis. His research centers on examining physical and mental health disparities in historically underserved populations, particularly among racial/ethnic minorities with serious mental illness (SMI; e.g., schizophrenia bipolar disorder). His research program blends quantitative and qualitative methods, community engagement, intervention research, and implementation science. In this CMHSR Seminar, Dr. Cabassa will present the latest findings from a recently completed pragmatic trial testing the effectiveness of a 12-month peer-led healthy lifestyle intervention in a predominantly racial/ethnic minority sample with SMI who was overweight/obese (BMI ≥ 25) and living in supportive housing.
