Katherine Montgomery’s research coalesces around implementation science and school-based delinquency prevention. Specifically, Dr. Montgomery is interested in organizational factors that influence the successful implementation of evidence-based interventions in the school setting.
Informed by approximately 10 years of experience working with at-risk youth, Dr. Montgomery became interested in studying ways in which youth could be effectively diverted from the juvenile justice system. She is particularly interested in implementation factors that affect the uptake of evidence-based interventions delivered in the school setting. Her current work involves collaborating with key stakeholders (such as policymakers, superintendents, principals, teachers, and social workers) in East St. Louis and St. Louis Public Schools to identify factors associated with organizational readiness for change in their school districts.
